Kewt Kali

Kewt KaliStumbled over this super-cute cartoon of the Goddess Kali, drawn by Sanjay Patel, a supervising animator and storyboard artist at Pixar Animation Studios. According to his official website, Ghee Happy, his aim is to “celebrate Indian mythology and culture thru design and storytelling in a fun and modern way”. To that end, he has published two books, The Little Book of Hindu Deities and Ramayana: The Divine Loophole. He’s also slapped his designs on a collection of stationery, and a series of  T-shirts, but sadly they’re only available through a US-based company called Super 7, and the postage would cost me more than the actual shirt! Still, if I’m ever in SF again, I’ll have to pay them a visit…

It's a terrific illustration. Shows a remarkable understanding of graphic design. It's not easy to make Kali seem fun.If you gotta have a shirt, I'm sure we can get one to you with cheaper shipping. Just a thought. Worth looking into, anyway…
