Many years ago, I wrote a series of pulp sci-fi detective stories, starring a character called Nutmeg Rodriguez. I was on a big M-Rod kick at the time, so for the illustrations I basically just drew her character from GirlFight, but with an eye-patch and a pistol… and now, here she is rocking that same look for the forthcoming Machete movie! Of course, I’m not going to be one of those crazy peeps who tries to sue a major movie studio for stealing my ideas… because I don’t think giving someone an eye-patch even qualifies as an “idea”. A lot of people I know are talking up the fancy-schmancy sci-fi flick Inception, but Machete is the only film coming out this year that I’m actually excited about seeing… it’s got a ridiculously stacked all-star cast, and I still think Planet Terror is the best (or at least the most consistently enjoyable) thing that R-Rod has ever done, so hopefully this sort-of-spin-off will be up to the same standard.
Oh, I forgot to mention what prompted this outburst… according to my horoscope site, it’s M-Rod’s B-Day today, so best wishes to her.
Hard to believe someone didn't rip you off. That's SO Nutmeg it's impossible to see anyone else! :OYou must be beside yourself…
Nah, I'm too excited about seeing this flick to be upset. It's just weird to see a character I obsessed over for so long actually made flesh! Cool, but weird.
"It's just weird to see a character I obsessed over for so long actually made flesh…" …and by the very actress upon whom said character was based, no less!BUT, her character's name is She? What the hell kind of name is that? I'm sure the film explains it, but still…Wait. It just occurred to me that Machete was the movie advertised in Planet Terror. I had no idea RR was going to actually make the movie; I thought it was just a fictional bit to really sell the exploitation film aspect of PT. Man, I dig this sort of thing. Still a couple months out, though. Gah!
