This is, technically speaking, the first post I have actually written for my shiny new WordPress blog. Everything preceding this was imported from my old blog at the nearly-departed Vox. Before signing up to WP, I read through the “how to get started” guide, and was quite inspired by the notion of a themed blog, with a clearly stated and consistent raison d’être. Prior to this, I’d just been spitting out whatever random juices my mind grapes produced from day to day, and stirring them all together. I believe, in the trade, that’s known as a “field blend”. But now, perhaps, with a new home and fun/scary new features to explore, it’s time to adopt a more focussed attitude. It was easy for me to identify the sort of “passions” which would inspire me to keep writing, of course, because all I had to do was look at my old blog’s tags, and see which loomed the largest… and the clear winner was “women who joke”. So, I tried to weed out the posts that didn’t fit that vague category before I imported them over… a few exemptions were made, I admit, but the point is really where I go from here. I don’t really expect this blog to be “successful” as anything other than a place for me to vent, and something to keep my fingers busy between scripts… but obviously that isn’t going to stop me obsessively checking my stats every few hours to see if anyone’s reading me! Weirdly I feel that I’m being held to a higher standard at WP, even though my posts will be just as public as they were at Vox. What a strange lad I am.
Anyhoo, the theoretical focus of this blog is “women who amuse me”… which is a bit blah, I know, but hopefully I’ll be able to throw in some Philosophy and Feminism along the way as well. Yay?
