September Searches

unnamed actressAnd so, as the good ship Vox goes down for good, I approach the end of my first month as a WordPresser. Being a nerd, I can’t help obsessing over my stats… and feeling a little chagrin at the reports I read. You see, the most popular search terms used to find this site over the last few weeks all involved a certain young actress, and suggest a strong desire on the part of the  searchers to see pictures of her nekkid. Which I can totally relate to, but even if such things did exist, you certainly wouldn’t find them posted here! Sorry.

I’m not going to actually state her name, because I don’t want you to think that I’m desperately fishing for empty hits here… but the picture is a pretty big clue. As a fan of the unnamed actress, I can’t helping thinking that the increased interest in her is a good thing… I mean, the more “heat” that builds around her, the more likely she is to score bigger, better roles, right? I don’t necessarily mean sexier roles… but as a man interested in self-analysis, I’m constantly fascinated by how the desire to have sex with a celeb can be redirected into a desire to buy a product branded with their image instead. It’s a strange form of sublimation that sneaky-types have been preying on for centuries… but I’m really not qualified enough to dissect it here. Sex sells, s’all… and nudity makes the world-wide-web go around. ‘Twas ever thus.
