One of these things is not like the others…

One of these things just doesn’t belong!

Yesterday I was browsing the racks in a local second-hand shop, when I spotted the “classic films” collection pictured here, which includes the following unlikely bed-fellows:

4 Classic Films Boxset: Spot the Odd-One-Out!!!The Final Scream (aka Final Stab) (2001), a horror flick about a murder mystery weekend at a secluded estate, where a group of college friends are slowly picked off in the traditional slasher stylee.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994), a critically acclaimed and much loved drama, starring Tim Robbins as a banker who struggles to keep mind, body and soul together after being sent to a maximun security prison for a murder he didn’t commit!

Shivers (aka Orgy of the Blood Parasites, The Parasite Murders, They Came from Within, or Frissons) (1975), a “body horror” flick written and directed by David Cronenberg, in which a wacky scientist infects the residents of an apartment building with a combined aphrodisiac/venereal disease that drives them mad with desire.

Witchcraft (aka La Casa 4 or Witchery) (1988), a horror flick starring David Hasselhoff and Linda Blair, about a group of tourists trapped in a haunted resort hotel, suffering the wrath of an evil witch (and getting sexually assaulted by Satan!)

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?

You’re obviously referring to The Final Scream, the only movie here not made in the 20th century! No, wait—it’s Witchcraft, the only one whose title contains no words starting with S. Yeah, that’s gotta be it!

Actually, the answer was “c) Shivers”, because it’s the only film on the list to have resulted in its director being evicted from their apartment for bringing shame on Canada! [according to Wikipedia, anyway]
