Long version: I’ve only listened to the album once so far, and M.I.A.’s tracks usually take a few spins to catch all the wordplay and wrap your ears around what you’re hearing, but so far it seems a lot funnier and “poppier” than her previous album (Maya), so hopefully it will be a bigger seller too. There’s so much going on, lyrically and musically, I could never hope to sum it all up here… but it made me laugh, and it made me cheer, and it made me want to dance. What more can you ask of an album than that?
Oh, and I really hope the acronym “Y.A.L.A.” (“You Always Live Again”) catches on, and supplants “Y.O.L.O.”. Reincarnation FTW!
